Recognizing Our Linemen
April 1, 2025
On April 18, as part of National Lineman Appreciation Day, Union Power and other electric cooperatives will celebrate their hardworking linemen who dedicate their lives to powering our communities. These men work tirelessly through weather conditions such as blazing heat, bitter cold, and dangerous storms. Linemen often leave their families, risking their lives to restore power.
Being a lineman is more than a job; it’s a commitment that requires more than just physical strength. It takes specialized skills, extensive training, experience, and an ongoing commitment to education and safety. They work with high-voltage equipment at great heights and deep underground, ensuring our members’ homes and businesses have reliable power.
When you turn on a light, charge your phone, or cook your favorite meal, take a moment to remember those who make it possible.
Linemen are more than just the backbone of our electrical infrastructure; they are fathers, grandparents, coaches, and community leaders. Their impact extends beyond their profession. They often volunteer for local events, mentor the next generation, and play a significant role in community activities.
While they prioritize taking care of Union Power members, they also extend their support to fellow co-ops, near and far, in times of desperate need when widespread outages occur.
As we recognize linemen’s hard work and dedication, we encourage you to show your support in recognizing these heroes. Whether you see a lineman out in public or comment on social media, use #ThankALineman to show your appreciation. This can go a long way in recognizing their sacrifice on National Linemen Appreciation Day.
