Recognizing Our Lineman Heroes: National Lineman Appreciation Day, April 18
April 13, 2024
Every year on April 18, Union Power and other electric cooperatives across our state and nation celebrate and honor all of the hard-working, innovative, and dedicated lineworkers who give their all every day.
Our linemen are the first responders in our community, working around the clock in difficult and dangerous conditions to keep power flowing through our homes and the community. Lineworkers work all hours of the day and night, sacrificing time away from their families to go above and beyond in restoring power and ensuring our members’ needs are met. Whether restoring power after a major storm or maintaining a critical infrastructure to our electric system, our linemen are the heart of our co-op.
While taking care of our members is a lineworker’s first priority, there are times when they are called on to aid across the state and nation following major storms. This commitment to “cooperation among cooperatives” is one of the core principles that demonstrates the true strength and character of the cooperative network.
To recognize these heroes and their dedication, we have set aside a day to thank them and give them all the well-deserved recognition. To show your support in all that they do to keep the power ON, we encourage you to use the hashtag #ThankALineworker on April 18 through social media.
