Girls on the Run of Union County
GOTR is a nonprofit organization empowering girls in
Union and Montgomery counties from grades 3-8 to
become the best versions of themselves. GOTR teaches
their communities to be joyful, healthy, and confident
through a fun, experience-based curriculum, creatively
integrating running. With the grant provided by UPCF,
GOTR will provide scholarships to individuals who
cannot afford to participate in the program and fund the
proper footwear for girls in need.
Stanly Health Foundation
Stanly Health Foundation is dedicated to improving
the health and well-being of every individual in their
community. Its most impactful program offers free
mammograms, playing a vital role in the early detection
of breast cancer. The UPCF grant will specifically
increase the amount of screenings for uninsured
women in Stanly County. “These funds have helped
improve the health of hundreds, if not thousands, of our
neighbors,” said Executive Director Jane Boone.
Turning Point Inc.
Turning Point is the only organization in Union County
that provides emergency and lifesaving resources for
survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child
abuse. The organization believes that everyone who
experiences abuse deserves a safe place to heal and
access the resources they need to achieve independence
and justice. “We wouldn’t exist, if we didn’t have
a community to rally around us like we do,” said
Executive Director Jessie Lindberg. With funding from
UPCF, Turning Point plans to expand its counseling
services for children and their families. By expanding
this service, children will learn that abuse is never their
fault and begin to heal, reducing the long-term negative
effects of trauma.
As UPCF continues to grow and support local
nonprofits, we are proud to recognize and award three
organizations that engage, encourage, and empower
the communities they support. Through these strategic
partnerships, UPCF continues its commitment to
helping our local communities. For more information on
