Court Conquerors
August 1, 2025
This summer, two local students received scholarships to train alongside athletes and coaches
from top-ranked colleges thanks to the Touchstone Energy Sports Camp. During the camps,
the students experienced living in a college dorm, built relationships with other campers and
coaches, and received training from professional basketball coaches while learning fundamental
skills that will help them excel on the court.
Harper Partin
Harper Partin attended the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp from June 15-18. She was able to train with the Wolfpack Women’s Head Coach, Wes Moore, as well as current and former players. Harper said, “My favorite part about camp was getting to interact with the coach and players.” Throughout her time at camp, current and former players continuously helped her improve her basketball skills. Harper also mentioned how she enjoyed the chance to experience “the college life,” highlighting the opportunity to meet many new friends and grow close to her dorm mate. Harper’s dad, Justin Partin, shares, “It was a great experience for her and she is already begging for us to let her go back next year.”
Paxton Meyers
Paxton Meyers attended the Carolina Basketball School from June 25-28. He trained with Hubert Davis, head coach of the Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team, as well as current and former players. Paxton shared that this was a wonderful opportunity learning a lot more about the game of basketball. He also loved not only seeing the players, but getting to meet them firsthand. The free “merch” was also a highlight as Paxton took home some new UNC Chapel Hill swag.
Union Power is proud to have awarded scholarships to these two remarkable students, who have excelled in their academic performance and extracurricular activities.
The application process for these camps will reopen on Jan. 1, 2026, to rising sixth- and seventh-graders for a chance to experience the same life-changing summer as Harper and Paxton.
