Monroe, N.C. – As part of its commitment to community and enriching students’ lives, Union Power awarded two basketball camp scholarships to students in Rowan and Mecklenburg Counties on Tuesday, April 23rd.
Brooklyn Buck, a fifth grader from Granite Quarry Elementary School in Rowan County, received her scholarship by members of the Cooperative’s communication department, during a surprise event held during her physical education class. Brooklyn will attend N.C. State Women’s Basketball Camp in Raleigh from June 10-13, 2018.
Dustin Snead, a fifth grader at Clear Creek Elementary in Mecklenburg County, was surprised by the Cooperative team while doing his classwork. Dustin will attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from June 16-20, 2018.
Each year, the Cooperative awards two scholarships to students of Union Power Members. Union Power Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative, which provides electric service to more than 75,000 member accounts in Union, Stanly, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Rowan counties.
